Jewelry Repairs FAQS

The cost of ring sizing can fluctuate depending on several factors, including the extent of alteration required, whether the ring needs to be enlarged or reduced, the number of diamonds present, the metal type, and the band's width. For an accurate assessment and precise pricing, we recommend bringing the ring in for evaluation. As a general guideline, resizing down typically ranges between $40 and $90, while resizing up may fall between $80 and $150. Notably, rings purchased from S.E. Needham Jewelers will qualify for a half-price discount on all repair services.

Our goldsmiths are in house which mean there is no shipping time that needs to be factored into completion time! We are usually able to complete a repair within 3-5 business days.

We recommend that your ring should be cleaned every six months. The cleaning helps your ring to look sparkly and new. The inspection helps your ring to be strong and secure at all times. When we do an inspection we ensure that the diamonds are tight in place and that the prongs are strong enough to hold the diamonds. During store hours we always have a trained associate onsite to clean and polish your ring. Varying on the busyness of the store it usually takes 5-15 minutes. And the great thing is it is FREE!

The frequency of prong re-tipping largely hinges on the wear and tear your ring endures over time, which is why we advocate for regular inspections every six months. Although the timing can vary based on usage and other factors, it's quite common for prong re-tipping to become necessary within one to five years of acquiring a new ring. These small metal tips play a crucial role in securing your diamonds, ensuring their longevity and security. By staying proactive with routine inspections and maintenance, you can address any issues promptly. Additionally, you can prolong the life of the prongs on the ring by removing your ring for high-contact activities.

Yes, soldering your rings together is often recommended for several reasons. Firstly, it strengthens the overall structure of the rings, especially if they are frequently worn together. Soldering prevents the individual rings from shifting or moving independently, reducing the risk of damage or loss. Additionally, when rings are soldered together, there is less friction between them, minimizing wear and tear on the metal. This is particularly beneficial for delicate gold bands, as it helps maintain their shape and integrity over time. Overall, soldering your rings together can provide added durability and protection, ensuring that your cherished jewelry remains in pristine condition for years to come.
